You have players like Dillon Brooks and Norman Powell putting up 20 ppg. Not that impressive anymore. Powell and Brooks might average more ppg but they're not averaging 8-9 apg. u do realize an assist equals a made basket, right? For his career, Garland averages 6.7 assists per game. He isn’t an 8 or 9 assist per game guy. For the playoffs, Garland averages just 5 assists per game. Garland also undersized and constantly picked on defensively. Umm Garland has been sharing ball handling duties with Mitchell the past 4 seasons. If he can recover from these toe injuries and stay mostly healthy, getting his "own team" will elevate his scoring and assist numbers significantly and earn him another max deal. That's presumably the plan for this and why I doubt we'll see him crying foul over being traded. Forecasting the Cavs out to 2028 and 2029 looks bad unless Harden ages like LeBron and Mitchell extends. Or Mobley/Tyson take a leap. Or the Cavs trade picks out to 2033 for Giannis, if they can duck the 2nd apron this year.
