I had trouble finding it in any Python glossaries, but I did find this, and I remembered it from an earlier lesson. http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Python_operators The percent sign divides two numbers on either side of the symbol and returns the remainder. So 10 % 5 returns zero (because there is no remainder, but 10 % 3 returns a remainder of 1 (because 10 divided by three equals three with a remainder of 1). So, in the above example. 2 ** 3 is equal to 8 (2 times 2 times 2) and 108 divided by 100 equals 1 with a remainder of 8, so they are equal. Hope that helps.
